Meet Guy & Victoria
My name is Guy Downes and travel isn't just my career—it's been my life's adventure.
From the very start of my career, travel has been my world. I began in retail travel back in 1989, helping clients book their holidays and loving the excitement they felt as they planned their next adventure. Before long, I moved into airline contracting, specialising in negotiating international deals and ensuring travellers received not only great value but also memorable experiences.
In 1999, I took the leap to New York City, where I worked with major airlines to secure exclusive fares across the U.S. Three years later, I was doing the same in Canada, helping open up travel opportunities for even more people. Those years taught me the ins and outs of how the airline industry really works — knowledge that has shaped the way I approach travel planning today.
Entrepreneurship came next. In 2010, I founded my own social media marketing company in the U.S., working across industries from healthcare and retail to travel and hospitality. Among my clients are an award-winning Thai hotel and a major Asian airline, both of which give me invaluable insights into the world of exceptional service and luxury travel experiences.
Having now explored more than 30 countries myself, I wanted to return to my first love: creating holidays for others. That’s why I launched One Extra Night Travel — to bring together my decades of airline expertise, industry knowledge and passion for travel.
Today, I use that experience to make every client’s journey seamless, personal, and every bit as exciting as the trip itself.
I’m Victoria Perkins and helping people discover the joy of travel has been my greatest reward, from day one to today.
From the moment I left school, I knew I wanted to be part of the travel world — and I jumped straight in with my first roles at Lunn Poly and Thomas Cook. I loved booking holidays for people and seeing their excitement as they looked forward to their next adventure. That joy of creating memorable journeys has stayed with me ever since.
After moving to the States, I joined Kerzner International (the brand behind Atlantis and One&Only Resorts) in their New York City 5th Avenue office, where I discovered the wonderful world of ultra-luxury hotels and destination resorts. Handling VIP reservations, I quickly found my niche. Later, in Arizona, I worked with the sales and marketing team at the top resort in Scottsdale, where I saw first-hand how the smallest details can make the biggest difference to someone’s stay. Being ‘behind the scenes’ gave me a deep understanding of what true hospitality is all about.
One of my favourite roles was as a Local Expert for Condé Nast Johansens, where I travelled across the States to inspect high-end properties for inclusion in their exclusive travel guide. It was an incredible experience — one week a cowboy ranch in Utah, the next a cliff-top resort in Laguna Beach, Hollywood chic on Rodeo Drive, or a beautiful estate in Napa Valley’s vineyards.
Today, I bring all of that experience together to help my clients create their own unforgettable journeys. Whether it’s a once-in-a-lifetime trip, a relaxing escape, or a luxury getaway, I love making the planning process seamless, personal, and just as exciting as the trip itself.
